Parents Conference November 2015

Working in partnership with parents is extremely important to all the staff at the nursery and therefore we are inviting all of our existing parents to our parent conference on the 18. November 2015.

Topics covered will include:

1. Applying for school places

– When and how do you apply

– Criteria for being allocated a place

– Transitions to school

– What can you do at home to support the transition

2. Learning activities at home

– What activities could you provide for your child at home

– How will nursery support your childs home learning in future (book and toy library and – teddy bear travels – to be discussed)

3. 2 year Progress Reviews, Developmental Checks and Assessments

– What assessments is the nursery carrying out to ensure all of our children are progressing

– What other agencies do we work with (Speech and Language, Area SENCO, EPs etc.)

– What does the local children’s centre offer to parents

4. Promoting children’s independence and school readiness skills

– What level of independence is expected of children before statutory school age

– What are we doing to promote this in the setting

– What could you offer at home to support your child

5. Current Nursery Events and Nursery Development Plans

– What is the nursery currently working on developing

– Ideas from parents on what you would like to see are welcome
